Videos of Taser Abuse by the Police

CAUTION - Video content is shocking, upsetting and disturbing. Some videos depict actual camera footage of real crimes in progress at times with victims and perpetrators getting hurt or killed.

None of these videos were made by us. These videos are obtained from Youtube or similar sites on the internet. We do not edit the videos. We trust you will enjoy them as we try to find the humorous ones that are also politically thought provoking.

Tasers and How to Minimize the effects.

There are two types of tasers, the ones for civilians and the ones for police and military. The ones the police get are considerably stronger than the civilian version. This means tests with the civilian versions to see effects are not all that relevant.

The taser delivers current through a very fragile power cord, really two. They work if the prongs are in clothing. The current jumps from one prong to the other and this is enough to disable a person even if the prongs are just in the clothing. The current can generally jump enough to hit the skin through the clothing. If the person had many layers of bulky clothing on then the taser may not be effective or only be partially effective. So layers of bulky clothing in a cold climate may help. A hard leather jacket with thick leather may help if there is bulky clothing underneath. The idea is to keep the prongs as far away from the skin as possible. The leather will stop the prongs from making contact with the next layer of clothes.

Some consider the best defense to be moving away from the taser. If you see you are going to get shot run in the opposite direction with all your power. The idea is to get enough momentum going that even if you get hit your forward momentum can be enough to keep you going forward enough to break the wires carrying the current. If you watch enough videos the police will stay relatively still when firing the taser so this is a good tactic.

One other defense is to block the taser with something like a coat, briefcase, umbrella etc. Taking the coat off and using it as a shield by draping it over your arm and waving it in front of you. At the same time increase distance between you and the taser. Tasers work for about 15 feet only. If you have no object to block with try seeking cover, then removing clothing and trying to swat the taser prongs away. Keeping a shirt twirling in front of you will screw up a taser nicely. If you have nothing else wave your arms constantly in front of you while backing away from the taser. A hit to the arms may not be effective. Only one prong may hit the arm. The prongs might get deflected.

Another approach is to focus your mind hard and pull out the prongs out as soon as they hit. Not that hard to do if you stay focused. There is a slight delay with the taser and you can make it if determined. They say the delay is as much as two seconds from firing.

Still another approach is if the taser makes your muscles collapse is to roll on the floor away from the taser. This will cause the wires to break and thus it is over. You need to stay focused and try hard, it can be done.

There is a way to taser proof clothing. The idea is to take a metal screen material and insert it inside of or on top of clothing. This will short out the current and thus you get no harm. This seems like overkill. There are also companies selling taser proof fabric inserts for uniforms. This is in case the bad guys start using tasers. This has not been a problem so far. The taser is not a weapon of choice for criminals. People scream when they get shot. You can only control one person at a time. You have only one shot, maybe two and then you lose. This is something maybe a sadistic sex offender would resort to. It is a control weapon that has a serious tendency to be abused.

The best way to prevent being a taser victim is to use an object to block the prongs or darts as they are sometimes referred to. Umbrellas made out of nylon with plastic shafts would be excellent. Use a wood or plastic handle to reduce conductivity. To make sure wrap the handle with several layers of electrical tape.

If you were defending against a police taser attack bear in mind that the police person thinks they are in the right or they would not be attacking you. If you defend against the taser the police will undoubtedly resort to more deadly weapons even if deadly force is not justified. You could try retreating rapidly if feasible. Telling the police person to calm down and lets discuss this tends to be viewed as manipulative suspect behavior and will get a police person to just bark commands at you and maybe draw their firearm. The interim weapon before they go for their gun is a baton or collapsible aluminum baton. There are still some using pepper spray but the taser has taken the place of the pepper spray. If it is a security guard or private person threatening you with a taser defending against it will probably get them to break off their attack. The civilian tasers are not as much of a threat as the police models so pulling the prongs out and or rolling over can be tactics more easily applied. Running out of range will confuse the assailant or security guard. Rushing you while you continue to be a moving target and they are running makes aiming difficult. Even if it has a laser or optical sight evaluating distance while you are both moving is hard to do and they may give up.

Threatening a taser shooter with a taser of your own is something not being explored as far as I know. This can be interesting if both get tasered at same time. It then becomes who recovers first. I doubt the police study this. Could they use deadly force against a taser? Doubt it less they brand the taser a deadly weapon and then why do they use it. They could argue the officer feared for his life in that if he were tasered he would be defenseless. Does not play well because it is an assumption that the person would not just run away. If there was no knife, gun or other deadly force weapon available then it would be difficult to justify deadly force. One bad problem is the police person will be scared to death of being tasered. Their worst fears will be a reality and they will probably use deadly force and very fast. Many people would be surprised at how many police people take their guns to the toilet, shower etc so as to not be caught off guard. Most of them carry a second gun as a back up on them when working. This mentality will see the taser as a deadly situation even though they can use it whenever they want to apparently. It would however be assaulting a police person which is generally something they take seriously. My guess is most police would be bewildered at the threat, and try to evade the taser by distance or take cover and then go to guns in a threatening way. They would not be so fast to shoot if they could distance themselves far enough to be out of range. If you shot them and then left the scene it would be interesting to see how law enforcement responds. A few such incidents will make taser sales to civilians go away and eventually lead to confiscation.

In summation the taser is a lousy weapon. It is unreliable, requires charging, has a limited range, will not fire through windows and barriers and can be easily defeated by an educated prepared person. It is an excellent control instrument to terrorize a civilian population into blindly obeying anything the authority figure says immediately with no discussion, time for thinking etc. In the old days police managed fine when they were out to protect and serve, which is not what, the police states are doing today. They only protect and serve each other and the government that employs them. After they run around using the taser on the elderly, the crippled, women, children, etc they lose all respect for the rights of those who pay their salaries. This is the intent of those distributing such weapons to these police people. Many countries are not police states and the police do not have tasers. A whole lot of countries would not use these devices. If you don’t like what is happening where you are leave. This is called voting with your feet.
