Executive Summary – Well we are well into the era of cyberwarfare. Cyber attacks can accomplish the same things as bombs now. The Stuxnet worm has attacked millions of computers in China. The stuxnet attacks computer system controls made by the industrial giant Siemens. The worm can seize control of things like valves, pumps, motors, alarms etc and cause the machinery to self-destruct itself ruining the equipment just like old WWII sabotage. Things that can get hit are oil rigs, pipelines, nuclear plants, power plants etc.
We are hearing that in China 6,000,000 individual accounts (computers?) and 1,000 corporate accounts are infected.The stuxnet appears on computers throughout Iran, China, Pakistan, India, Indonesia and other countries. Please note the stuxnet hits windows operating systems. Linux and Mac which is linux based do not seem to be affected.
