In Panama when you disembark from your international fight you will first head to the immigration counter where you present your passport and the form you filled out while in the flight. Then it is on to the baggage claim area, there you will collect your luggage from the carrousel. Usually the luggage is arriving as you approach the carrousel and there may be a brief wait for you luggage to appear. After gathering your belongings, you will work your way through a second customs lin e where your luggage will be scanned or possibly searched. From there you will take your belongings out through the lobby where you are offered assistance by porters and taxi drivers eager to assist you.
You will first need to go to the ticketcounter and check in for your flight. It is in this first part of the check in that Customs randomly selects from the line to do a search at their near by counter. If your baggage is going to be randomly searched it will be done here before you check in at the ticket counter. At the ticket counter you leave your luggage that you are checking and proceed to the scanner with your carry on luggage. After your belongings pass through the scanner you enter into the international terminal when you will wait until your flight departs. These three steps are all within the same common area and it’s just a few brief steps between each destination.
