Executive Summary – There has been a surge in Federal employees making over $150,000 a year in the height of a depression with bankruptcies, foreclosure and unemployment soaring. This depression has removed 7,300,000 jobs from the private sector. The private sector is paying less these days in that there are far more applicants for each available job. At the same time the Federal sector is paying way more than they used to.
Here are the figures. In the department of Transportation 1,690 people earn salaries of over $170,000. In the Defense Department there are 10,100 employees earning over $150,000. The Federal Aviation Administration has 1700 employees earning over $170,000. The average Federal workers pay is $71,206 compared to $40,331 in the private sector. So while Americans are out of work living homeless or in tents the Federal tax consuming workers are having a field day. Keep in mind the awful economy enables these workers to get real fire sale prices on just about anything they buy too. No wonder they keep trying to find new ways to collect more taxes.
