Introduction - Simply stated a bank run is a collective withdrawal of funds, which is frequently done out of fear of a bank collapsing or similar financial catastrophe. In fact, you should be very afraid of this happening in the near future, but another motivation is justice. Every single one of these powerful banks has been revealed to be participating in criminal activities, especially fraud. Why should you sleep well at night knowing that your hard-earned money is in their hands? And the fact is that despite driving their own companies into the ground, wrecking havoc on millions of Americans' lives, and receiving billions of dollars from the federal government in compensation for their actions, they continue the same practices.
The people can no longer depend on their government for justice, and must show their displeasure by withdrawing their money from these banks so that they cannot use it in the same malicious ways all over again. The clearest sign that this is an effective way to hit them where it hurts is that they are arresting people who are attempting to close out their accounts in person. Stay strong, America. They cannot win in the end.
Why We Will Win – For a long time fractional reserve banking has worked for the robber barons, but now it is going to work against them. When you deposit money into your bank account with one of these large banks, only a small percentage of the money is actually kept in the bank, while the rest is loaned out to generate profit. This is essentially making money out of thin air, and is toxic to the economy (as we all have experienced in recent years).
A bank like Bank of America must only keep 10% of the funds available, and other banks even less, making it easier to put a dent in their finances and paralyze their business. If 5,000 people join together and all withdraw even $10,000, that is a $50 million dollar blow to their reserves. If 20,000 people withdraw that amount on average, it's $200 million dollars. You see what a small percentage of the population is needed to seriously hurt them?
You can put the money into a local credit union that doesn't participate inn these hair-brained, get-rich-quick schemes, or you can take the money out of the country (the best way to keep it safe as the institutions collapse). In fact, it's already happening. Remember the 5th of November – Either on or before November 5th, withdraw your money from your account with any of the large robber baron banks (Wells Fargo, Citibank, Bank of America, etc). You can do this in several pieces if you face resistance, or all at once by closing your account. If your bank refuses to let you close your account, or even arrests you as happened to those in New York City a few days ago, go to the ATMs and your online bank platforms and get your money safe.
If they do try to block all measures of safeguarding your money, a cute way to retaliate would be to run up your credit card bills, and then refuse to pay. You could even be purchasing blankets, bottles of water, and food supplies to donate to protestors around the nation with this money. How's that for sweet revenge? If even 50,000 people do this at once, well, Wall Street would have a problem on their hands.
