Today Panama is booming with growth. We have retirees coming here in droves. Beachfront property can still be had for $140,000 and the same price can buy a nice older view condo in Panama City. Now we are having an influx of celebrities. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt recently bought a penthouse in the Trump project in Punta Pacifica for $10.2 million dollars. Mel Gibson just bought a new condo in a new project called The World. Mick Jagger recently bought a home in Pedassi near the city of David in Panama.
We have seen Regis Philbin here, do not know if he bought a home or not. Donald Trump has been here and is starting real estate projects. These are the stars that like to invest in real estate and are at the head of the star pack soon moving here – we think.
Marine world Coming to Panama – They are going to build a marine park on the Pacific side.
Swim with the Dolphins – A large swim with the dolphins project is underway, already seeing ads in the newspapers.
Disney Coming to Panama – They have a massive block of land on the Pacific side. They seem to be starting out with a water slide park like the ones they have in Orlando.
Cruise Boat Pier – Now being built for completion in 2007. Many Central and South Americans are unable or unwilling to get American visas to take cruises out of Florida as they did in years past. The Americans have tightened their visa requirements and made the application process annoying. Panama is stepping in with a full cruise terminal like the one found in Miami and cruises will originate and terminate out of Panama. For cruisers sick and tired of the Eastern and Western Caribbean runs leaving from Florida, Panama will offer new and exciting destinations. Remember Panama is only 2 ½ hours by air from Miami so this will also appeal to many American and Canadian cruisers in addition to the Central and South Americans. Celebrities take cruises too by the way.
Paparazzi in Panama – In a word they are not here. The Police will not tolerate one category of people harassing another category of people. This is a big relief for some celebrities. In Panama they can be free to wonder about the streets like anyone else. They can go to restaurants, malls, clubs etc in peace without a horde of Paparazzi waiting outside for them. They can come and go from their apartments or homes without the Paparazzi waiting to flash pictures of them, day or night.
Low Crime Rate In Panama – This is of course a plus for anyone celebrity or not. No need to load up with bodyguards since there are no car jackings in Panama.
Low Cost of Living – A celebrity can buy a penthouse for $3,000,000 in Panama that would cost $15,000,000 in other countries. Who says celebrities don’t appreciate a good value.
Great Medical Care – We even have a full John Hopkins Hospital in Panama City plus other great hospitals. Most drugs can be bought without a prescription in Panama.
Asset Protection and Tax Haven – This is important for celebrities too.
Great Food and Restaurants – Celebrities like to eat out and they also like to eat healthy. Our food is like organic mostly but we do not use that term much here.
Beaches – Panama has plenty of beautiful beaches and celebrities love beaches. We even have black sand beaches.
Ecology – Panama is a very ecological nation and this is also important with some celebrities.
So we are all waiting to see the celebrity influx into Panama.
