Document certification is generally required when certifying a passport copy for bank account opening or certifying various documents for immigration purposes. To certify a document in Canada we use the Panama Consulate or Embassy. Canada has no Apostilles not being in the Hague Treaty. What is done is the document is first notarized or certified by a lawyer or commissioner of oaths. Then the document is presented to one of the Panama Consulates or Embassies in Canada for document authentication. For this they charge $30 per document, plus an extra $2.00 for each page in same document requiring an extra stamp. They have a two to three day turn around time. You can Fed Ex them the documents and enclose a prepaid FedEx or Postal envelope for return. You can send them a money order payable to Panama Embassy or Panama Consulate for the fee. Documents can also be presented in person, but call first.
It sounds harder than it is, really. The Panama Government people you will find to be friendly and cordial.
