Executive Summary – During 2009 there were 14,033,824 NICS firearm purchase checks made. This equates to about 14 million gun purchases taking into account that there would be some turn downs and also that some would buy 2 or more guns on the same background check. Thus we reach an approximate of 14 million gun purchases, up from about 12 million in 2008. This is 26 million guns in just two years.
The 2009 gun purchases of 14 million is more guns that the 21 largest armies in the world have combined. If we are going to go take a guess at the total amount of guns in the USA in civilian hands only we would guess at least 50 million which is probably more than all the guns in the world added together government and privately owned. How much ammunition the Americans have is not available. Conservatively there should be billions of rounds of ammunition owned by civilians in the USA.
Analysis – Well for one crime rates in the USA have dropped to new record lows. Self explanatory. It also seems that the USA citizens are getting ready to defend themselves against the government. It is doubtful that people would buy 26 million guns in two years with crime rates dropping to record lows to protect against criminals . Lets watch and see. Birth certificate free Obama is the prefect storm just waiting to happen.
