On August 26, 2008 Sheila C. Blair, the Chair of the FDIC aid her agency may need to borrow money from the US Treasury to meet the financial crisis that the bank failures have caused. It gets worse.
The FDIC now states that the losses from the IndyMac failure are about $8.9 billion. Previous estimates were as low as $4 billion.
The FDIC endangered banks list has grown to 117 institutions, up from a previous figure of 90. More doom and gloom.
The bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is expected to hit over $1 trillion dollars. Steve Forbes estimated the damages to be at $400 Billion but other noteworthy experts estimate the damage to be as high as $1.6 trillion dollars. The US taxpayers will be footing the bill on this. What a great banking system. If you own a bank that makes money you get to keep the profit. If the bank fails the taxpayer gets to pay the damages. Ever see a bank bailout a taxpayer who needs help? It gets even worse.
Third quarter net income for FDIC insured institutions totaled $5 Billion down from $36.8 Billion in the second quarter of 2008. That is a decrease of 86.5 percent.
It seems like the USA will be in bad shape for years and years to come if it ever turns around. Jobs have moved overseas. Housing prices are plummeting and the bottom is far from here now. Banks are falling apart in large quantities. The ripple effect from this will be vast. Loans for consumers will be very hard to get. Retail sales will drop as a result. This will cause more job losses and more job losses causes more job losses. That is how it works.
The workers out of work stop spending money and thus more jobs get lost. What it will take to get things on track is jobs. The economic policies of the USA are detrimental to opening or operating businesses. There are high taxes of all sorts, all sorts of insurances, all sorts of lawsuits and so it goes. This is the price they are paying for running businesses off. Now according to campaign promises it seems they are concentrating on bleeding whoever is still living there with higher taxes. They started an exit tax for people leaving and renouncing their citizenships with more than $600,000 in assets. Is this the only country that charges one to leave? Does their constitution allow for this or did they eliminate the constitution?
They have a tremendous amount of people working for local, State and Federal government agencies. These people get their paycheck, inflation adjustments, health benefits and look forward to their retirement pension with an attitude similar to an ostrich with its head in the ground. They have more people in jail that any other nation and most of them for victimless crimes. A new phenomenon in the USA is some smaller governments like cities and counties have been going bankrupt and defaulting on their pension payments thus destroying the retirement the workers looked forward to their whole career. The government workers and legislators in their zeal to overly regulate businesses and individuals have driven them out of business and encouraged them to leave the USA. When it is too late and the government workers lose their jobs and pensions they will realize the key to an economy is having jobs and productivity. Government workers produce nothing. They are supposed to service those in the private sector, not the other way around and this shattered economy is a classical symptom of what happens when things get reversed. Don’t be expecting any fast turn around.
If you are able to leave and want to setup a new life in a much stronger economy with freedoms unknown to you give us a call, we can help. You should plan on living off of savings, investments or being self-employed. The cost of living is much lower. The quality of life is much higher. The crime is lower. The medical is better; most drugs do not require a prescription. The food that is locally grown does not have all the harmful additives. Give us a call if you want to start a new and better life.
